NEW Water Engine That Changes Everything

A water-fuelled car is an automobile that hypothetically derives its energy directly from water. Water-fuelled cars have been the subject of numerous international patents, newspaper and popular science magazine articles, local television news coverage, and websites. The claims for these devices have been found to be pseudoscience and some were found to be tied to investment frauds.

These vehicles may be claimed to produce fuel from water on board with no other energy input, or may be a hybrid claiming to derive some of its energy from water in addition to a conventional source (such as gasoline). Water is fully oxidized hydrogen. Hydrogen itself is a high-energy, flammable substance, but its useful energy is released when water is formed. Water will not burn.

The process of electrolysis can split water into hydrogen and oxygen, but it takes as much energy to take apart a water molecule as was released when the hydrogen was oxidized to form water. In fact, some energy would be lost in converting water to hydrogen and then burning the hydrogen because some waste heat would always be produced in the conversions. Releasing chemical energy from water, in excess or in equal proportion to the energy required to facilitate such production, would therefore violate the first or second law of thermodynamics

Overhead Too Much? Consider Moving Your Office to Home.

Overhead Too Much? Consider Moving Your Office to Home. It's Possible! Moving your business infrastructure to Amazon Web Services (AWS) and transitioning to a remote work setup can be a significant endeavor. Here are some steps to consider when making this transition: Assess Your Infrastructure Needs: Evaluate your current IT infrastructure and identify which services and resources need to be moved to AWS. This may include web hosting, databases, and other applications. Choose AWS Services: Select the AWS services that align with your needs. Common choices include Amazon EC2 for virtual servers, Amazon RDS for managed databases, and Amazon S3 for storage. Plan Your AWS Architecture: Design an AWS architecture that meets your business requirements. Consider factors like scalability, redundancy, and security. Utilize Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) for network isolation. Migrate Data and Applications: Migrate your data and applications to AWS. This might involve setting up new instances, transferring databases, and configuring security groups. Security and Compliance: Implement security best practices, including firewall rules, encryption, and access control. Ensure that your setup adheres to any industry-specific compliance requirements. Remote Work Setup: Equip your team with the necessary hardware, software, and remote access tools. This includes VPNs, secure authentication methods, and remote desktop solutions. Data Backup and Disaster Recovery: Set up data backup and disaster recovery solutions to protect your business-critical data in the cloud. Monitoring and Management: Implement monitoring tools and processes to keep an eye on the health and performance of your AWS resources. Cost Management: Utilize AWS cost management tools to keep track of your spending and optimize your infrastructure for cost-effectiveness. Training and Support: Provide training to your employees to ensure they are comfortable with the new remote work setup and AWS services. Consider AWS support options for technical assistance. Closing Office: If you're closing your physical office, make arrangements to terminate any lease agreements, utility services, and handle equipment disposal or relocation. Legal and Compliance: Ensure that you're in compliance with labor laws, tax regulations, and other legal considerations related to remote work and office closure. Communication and Collaboration Tools: Implement communication and collaboration tools to keep your remote team connected. Options include Slack, Microsoft Teams, or other video conferencing solutions. Document Your Processes: Document your new processes and procedures for remote work, as well as AWS configurations and settings for future reference and onboarding of new employees. Test and Iterate: Thoroughly test your new setup to identify and address any issues. Iterate and refine your configurations as needed. Communication: Communicate your plans with employees, clients, and stakeholders. Ensure that everyone is informed about the changes and the new work setup. This transition can be complex, so it's essential to plan carefully, seek professional assistance if needed, and prioritize security and data protection throughout the process. Additionally, consider the unique needs and challenges of your specific business to tailor your approach accordingly.

Biden Moves Towards Global War

>

President Biden addressed the nation on our response to Hamas’ terrorist attacks against Israel and Russia’s ongoing brutal war against Ukraine. As the President said: we are facing a global inflection point, and making sure Israel and Ukraine succeed is vital for our national security, as well as helping address the humanitarian needs in Ukraine and Gaza. Chairman, Senate Judiciary Committee, Illinois Senator Dick Durbin: “Thank you, @POTUS , for reminding America that we have a singular role in the world fighting against terrorists like Hamas and tyrants like the infamous war criminal, Vladimir Putin. We are fortunate to have a President who knows the lessons of history and is determined to maintain America’s indispensable leadership role while upholding our values.” [Tweet, 10/19/23]

Chair, Senate Appropriations Committee, Washington Senator Patty Murray: “As someone who voted against the Iraq war, I’m glad to see President Biden make this point clear—this is an important message for @POTUS to deliver as a friend of Israel.” [Tweet, 10/20/23]

Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi: “Tonight, President Joe Biden masterfully presented the case that American leadership on the world stage is necessary for preserving and promoting democracy. In his Oval Office address, the President strongly reiterated America’s commitment to the people of Israel and the people of Ukraine as they defend their democracies. Congress must swiftly consider the President’s request for supplemental national security funding, including humanitarian assistance for the people of Gaza. It is long overdue for House Republicans to bring the House to order so we can honor this responsibility. President Biden has been masterful in managing these crises, with deep experience and with global relationships that are rivaled by none. In this perilous moment, America is fortunate to have a strong, steady, wise commander-in-chief honoring American leadership and promoting American values on the world stage.” [Statement, 10/19/23]

Colorado Senator Michael Bennet: “@POTUS is right, it’s our duty to support Ukraine and Israel as they fight to defend their democracies. The United States stands with them.” [Tweet, 10/19/23]

Colorado Congresswoman Diana DeGette: “I agree with @POTUS . We can’t let “petty, partisan, angry politics get in the way of our responsibilities as a great nation.” We must elect a Speaker, and then pass an aid package to address the international crises in Israel and Ukraine.” [Tweet, 10/19/23]

Connecticut Congressman Joe Courtney: “POTUS made clear that we have a responsibility as a great nation to defend and support our allies and help innocent victims of war. Congress must quickly respond to his budget request and deliver the aid to defend our allies and ensure peace at home.” [Tweet, 10/19/23]

Connecticut Congressman John Larson: “President Biden demonstrated why, with his experience, he is the right person at the right time to guide us through this crisis,” said Larson. “I could not be prouder of his efforts and strategy going forward. He is resolved and committed to our allies, Ukraine and Israel, but also is pushing the need for humanitarian aid. That comes out of experience, going back to Golda Meir and countless leaders during his time on the world stage. It is now up to Congress to adopt and rapidly approve the request for resources the President has called for.” [Statement, 10/19/23]

Delaware Congresswoman Lisa Blunt Rochester: “Moral clarity and strength from @POTUS . We must reject ALL forms of hate and Congress must act quickly to provide needed aid to our closest allies.” [Tweet, 10/19/23]

Florida Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz: “I’m proud to follow your lead @POTUS . This moment demands your experience, compassion and resolve. The US must back our allies in đŸ‡źđŸ‡± and đŸ‡ș🇩, both 1st lines of defense vs. tyranny, terror & hatred. Their fight is our fight. I trust Joe Biden to keep these threats from our shores.” [Tweet, 10/19/23]

Florida Congresswoman Kathy Castor: “This is a call to action to all freedom-loving people to stand up for democracy at home and abroad. America must stand by our allies, insist upon the protection innocent civilians and work for peace. Thank you, President Biden for providing leadership and moral clarity. [Tweet, 10/19/23]

Florida Congressman Jared Moskowitz: “Thank you @POTUS for saying loudly and clearly that America stands with Israel and Ukraine. Tomorrow, I look forward to reviewing the President’s urgent budget request he submits to Congress to support our allies.” [Tweet, 10/19/23]

Illinois Congressman Bill Foster: “Tonight, @POTUS reminded us that American leadership is built upon our democratic values and that the United States must stand strongly against hatred and tyranny at home and abroad.” [Tweet, 10/19/23]

Illinois Congressman Mike Quigley: “Tonight @POTUS reaffirmed what I’ve believed for months — the survival of Ukraine’s democracy is critical to our own. The proposed aid package reflects that importance. It ensures Ukraine & Israel can respond to present threats, while addressing necessary crises here at home.” [Tweet, 10/19/23]

Maryland Congressman Steny Hoyer: “I agree with what President Biden made clear tonight: the wars we see in Israel and Ukraine are part of an existential struggle between fascism and freedom, despotism and democracy, might and right. The decisions Congress makes in the coming weeks will determine democracy’s fate for decades. If sovereignty, democracy, and international law are to endure – and endure they must – we need to protect those principles not only in America but also where they are most threatened. Today, that is Ukraine and Israel.” [Statement, 10/19/23] Maryland Congressman John Sarbanes: “Thank you, @POTUS . We must support Ukraine, support Israel and provide humanitarian assistance to Palestinians in Gaza.” [Tweet, 10/19/23]

Massachusetts Congresswoman Lori Trahan: “President Biden spoke clearly and unequivocally tonight. The United States will not stand by while democracy comes under attack — at home or abroad. We will stand with our allies, and we will reject hate and terrorism wherever they arise.” [Tweet, 10/19/23]

Massachusetts Congressman Bill Keating: “I stand with @POTUS & what I firmly believe to be the majority of my colleagues on both sides of the aisle in supporting the people of Israel & Ukraine as they defend their very existence. As @POTUS said, the survival of these democracies is integral to our own national security.” [Tweet, 10/19/23]

Massachusetts Representative Jake Auchincloss: Yes, the President met the moral moment. Our ally democracies are under attack from terrorists, from tyrants, from totalitarianism and the President is responding with strong statesmanship and with clarity of purpose, and now it’s incumbent on Congress to match his resolve. We know that a majority of the Republican conference has been in support of Israel, of Ukraine, of Taiwan. The votes exist. What is necessary is for House Republican leadership to jettison their extremists and to unlock bipartisan governance so we can set aside the petty infighting and instead actually govern, not just for this democracy here at home, but for democracies the world over. [CNN, 10/20/23]

Michigan Congresswoman Haley Stevens: “I echo President Biden – we must ensure democracy, reject all forms of hate, and stand by our allies. @POTUS , thank you for your leadership.” [Tweet, 10/19/23]

New Jersey Representative Mikie Sherrill: “I think we’ve seen strong support also from the Republicans in the Senate. This is something that has wide agreement despite the far-right extremists falling away and as you’ve heard, being inexplicably more supportive of Putin for some reason. But there is a great deal of support. What was so masterful about the President’s speech last night was that he tied the global consequences of not supporting Ukraine, I think delineated how if you are a strong supporter of Israel, you need to be a strong supporter of Ukraine. If you are a strong supporter of democracy, you really need to be a supporter of our efforts in both of those fronts. I thought as well what he said that was so important was also a desire to do so along with American values, our belief in humanitarian aid for Gaza as well as our concern here at home that we make sure that we are doing everything we can to protect Americans against anti-Semitism, against islamophobia. And really, I think, in an empathetic way he talked about the little boy who was killed in a hate crime and said these are Americans, we’re together in this, we’re together.” [MSNBC, 10/20/23]

New York Congressman Adriano Espaillat: “President Biden has made things crystal clear. We must act now to fight terror, protect civilians, and maintain democracy in Israel, Gaza, Ukraine, and Taiwan. House Republicans must put egos aside and join House Democrats on a bipartisan path forward.” [Tweet. 10/20/23]

Ohio Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur: “Applauding President Biden for his strong and personal words tonight as he addressed the nation. Let Congress act with dispatch to heal the deep wounds of body and soul in Israel and for the Palestinian people, and continue its support of Ukraine’s noble fight for Liberty.” [Tweet, 10/19/23]

Ohio Congressman Greg Landsman: “We are the world’s indispensable leader, as the president said tonight. This moment is as serious as it gets, and it demands serious leaders. We need to respond to this moment by coming together, getting a Speaker who will work in a bipartisan way to keep your government open, continue investments in our economy, and provide the strength and support our global partners need.” [Statement, 10/19/23]

Texas Congressman Lloyd Doggett: “President Biden has made the case for supporting the fight against terrorism and war crimes whether from Putin or Hamas as well as the need for immediate humanitarian support to the many innocent people in Gaza. And I salute his call to reject both antisemitism and Islamophobia.” [Tweet, 10/20/23]

Texas Congresswoman Veronica Escobar: “It’s time to build a world that is safer, more peaceful, and honors our shared humanity. Grateful for @POTUS ’ steadfast leadership as we continue to face uncertainty around the globe. We are the United States of America and there is nothing we can’t do.” [Tweet, 10/19/23]

Virginia Congresswoman Jennifer McClellan: “Tonight, @POTUS called on Congress to uphold America’s values, support Israel and Ukraine, and deliver humanitarian aid to Palestinians in Gaza. At this time of global crisis, Congress must get back to governing. @HouseDemocrats stand ready.” [Tweet, 10/19/23]

Former New Hampshire Senator Judd Gregg: “I thought President Biden’s speech last night was exceptional. […] I thought it was an exceptional definition of what the American role should be in the world. We have to lead in the area of defending democracy and we have to lead in the area in my opinion of defending market economies. But this was a good speech. It could have been given by George W. Bush. I think it was essentially a George W. Bush speech about how you engage internationally to protect our interests. That is what it is about. Protecting our interests. I thought he did a superb job.” [CNBC, 10/20/23]

Former Missouri Senator Claire McCaskill: “I think [the President] really did an amazing job last night. He was in command. He was strong. He took the moral high ground. He took the ground that Americans should be most comfortable with, that is, we do have a stake around the world in democracies, in standing up to thugs and bad guys and torturers, and, you know, violent extremists.” [MSNBC, 10/20/23]

State and Local Government Officials

Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont: “I commend President Biden for his powerful statement in support of Israel and Ukraine, and his clear expression of American values. I join him in his call for Congress to act quickly to provide aid to our allies.” [Tweet, 10/20/2023]

Maryland Governor Wes Moore: “We are living through a moment when thousands of innocent Palestinian and Israeli civilians are suffering and grieving, both overseas and at home. Outside of the Middle East, we have seen how this violence has given rise to division and acts of hatred and violence directed towards both Muslim and Jewish communities. In Maryland we do not—and we will never—tolerate hatred. Not toward Muslims. Not toward Jews. Not toward Christians. Not toward anyone. Now is the time for us to stand together in love and community. We are encouraging Marylanders to help combat hate in their communities: If you are in immediate danger, call 9-1-1 If you witness or experience a hate crime or hate incident, you can make a report by dialing 1-800-492-TIPS For concerns related to schools, dial 1-833-MD-B-SAFE [Tweet, 10/19/2023]

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz: “.@POTUS gave a powerful speech last night after returning from Israel and reaching a deal to provide needed humanitarian aid to Gaza. The vast majority of Palestinians are not Hamas, and Hamas does not represent the Palestinian people. We cannot let terrorists like Hamas win.” [Tweet, 10/20/23]

New York Governor Kathy Hochul: “Congress must act on the @POTUS’s request for emergency funding to support Israel and Ukraine, and provide humanitarian aid to Gaza. It is essential for our national security and ensure America remains a beacon of hope for generations to come.” [Tweet, 10/19/2023]

Foreign Policy Voices and Leading Organizations

Richard Haas, Former President of the Council on Foreign Relations and former United States Diplomat: “Speech by President Biden from Israel nothing less than masterful, mixing support for Israel with advice, the personal & the policy. So far @potus deserves high marks for undertaking a difficult diplomatic mission that has grown more difficult and for getting the balance right. [Tweet, 10/20/19]

John E. Herbst, Senior director of the Atlantic Council’s Eurasia Center and a former US ambassador to Ukraine: “It has been a good week for Joe Biden. In a tour de force, he visited Israel and delivered a pitch-perfect message of support for its embattled people and some careful observations on how to deal with the challenges ahead. Then one day after that trip, he gave a powerful speech from the Oval Office laying out the major dangers presented to global order, vital US interests, and US leadership by Vladimir Putin’s aggression to subdue Ukraine and Hamas’s savage attack on Israel. US presidents are usually elected for reasons related to the economy and other domestic issues, but presidents often establish their legacy at moments of international peril. […] It was Biden’s second bravura presidential moment in two days. In its clarity, strategic focus, and sunny summons of American values and leadership, it recalled Ronald Reagan at his best. This is good for Biden and better for us.” [Article, 10/19/23]

David Makovsky, Ziegler Distinguished Fellow and Director of Program on Arab-Israel Relations at the Washington Institute of Near East Policy: “During his Oval Office address, @POTUS clearly outlined the stakes for the U.S. at this “inflection point in history:” that when terror and tyranny go unchecked, the “cost and the threats to America and the world keep rising.” [Tweet, 10/19/23]

Jonathan Panikoff, Director of Scowcroft Middle East Security Initiative in the Middle East Programs and former deputy national intelligence officer for the Near East at the US National Intelligence Council: “Tonight, against the backdrop of his own political and domestic challenges, Joe Biden demonstrated what US leadership in the world looks like. Biden’s speech is best viewed in the context of an age-old question: How many times must we repeat the same mistakes? This Saturday will mark two weeks since the deadliest attack on the Jewish people since the Holocaust. The lessons the world learned from that atrocity, and from World War II more broadly, resonate today more than ever. Peace should always be the goal. But while a peace achieved by the appeasement of autocrats and terrorists may calm tensions temporarily, it is likely to lead to a far bigger conflict in the future. We are, as the president said, at an “inflection point.” […] There is a difference between a war of choice and a war of necessity. And what Biden highlighted tonight is that Israel and Ukraine are both engaged in wars of necessity—wars required to ensure the security of their people, to defend their homelands, and to safeguard democratic ideals.” [Article, 10/19/23]

Daniel Fried, Former US Ambassador to Poland and Weiser Family Distinguished Fellow at the Atlantic Council: “Biden weaves together strategy, values, and US interests. Links “the idea of America, the promise of America” with American interests in supporting Ukraine & Israel. Powerful expression of American grand strategy from Truman & Reagan.” [Tweet, 10/x/23]

Mark Hertling, Former United States Army office: “ [President Biden] tied both Israel’s actions and Ukraine’s actions to a fight for survival, a fight for protection of their people, a fight for freedom and dignity… [H]e also said that others are watching, both our friends, our foes, our competitors. What he then did, which I found very moving, was he tied all of that not to the money, not to what’s expected, not to the capacity of Americans to help, but he tied it all to what should be our values, our human dignity, our respect for one another, our religious freedoms, and our freedoms writ large.” [CNN, 10/20/23]

David Rothkopf, Founder and CEO of TRG Media and The Rothkopf Group: “Biden has reminded us in his speeches over the past few weeks–on democracy, in support of Israel, tonight in support of action to combat terrorism and aggression–that nothing is so important to a speech as conviction. These have been vital speeches because of not just their…” [Tweet, 10/19/23]

Paul RieckhoffđŸ‡ș🇾, President of Righteous Media Inc. and U.S. Army Veteran: “His best speech ever. A brilliant, focused, righteous, and inspiring talk to the nation. To our allies, to our enemies, and to the world. Exactly the right tone, strategy and message.” [Tweet, 10/19/23]

AIPAC: “Thank you @POTUS @JoeBiden for your pro-Israel leadership and heartfelt address in solidarity with our ally. We urge Congress to expeditiously approve this emergency funding request to ensure Israel has the resources it needs to protect its families and drive Hamas out of Gaza.” [Tweet, 10/19/23]

Jeremy Ben-Ami, President, J Street: The President did a great job balancing the need to support Israel in its effort to hold those who perpetrated the greatest evil against the country to account and the need to protect the Palestinian civilian population and meet their basic humanitarian needs.

What Is a Wastegate | Turbo Supercharger

What does a wastegate do? The wastegate’s job is to divert excess exhaust gases away from the turbine – controlling the speed of the turbine and preventing it from spinning too fast. By controlling and limiting the speed of the turbine, the wastegate regulates the boost pressure provided by the turbocharger. By preventing the boost pressure from rising indefinitely, the wastegate protects the turbocharger and the engine from damage.
How does a wastegate work? In most cases, a wastegate is a relatively simple valve, controlled by a pressure actuator linked to the boost pressure of the turbo. The wastegate is held shut by a spring inside the actuator, but when the boost pressure exceeds the pre-set maximum, it compresses this spring, progressively opening the wastegate. This allows the exhaust gases through, so that they bypass the turbine, regulating its speed. Different kinds of wastegate There are two main types of wastegate, which both work in slightly different ways: Internal wastegates Most turbochargers are fitted with internal wastegates, with a valve that is built into the turbine housing itself. This valve is controlled by an actuator, which consists of a spring and a sealed chamber, and this chamber is linked to boost pressure (usually via a pressure source found on the compressor cover of the turbocharger). External wastegates Usually reserved for higher power engines fitted to performance and race vehicles, external wastegates are separate, self-contained mechanisms that are usually fitted to the exhaust manifold or header. External wastegates feature larger inlets and outlets, higher pressure springs and larger actuator diaphragms, so that they can effectively handle higher boost pressures. Things to consider Performance and tuning While perfectly sufficient for the vast majority of motorists, internal wastegates are only designed to handle the performance of a turbocharger at stock boost levels. If you are a performance enthusiast looking to modify your engine and maximise performance, it’s important that you have a wastegate that’s correctly sized for your turbocharger to prevent damage. If you’re fitting an aftermarket turbo, you may need to invest in an external wastegate to effectively control the additional boost and power (and many larger aftermarket turbochargers aren’t fitted with internal wastegates anyway). #motorcycle #motorcycles #hardrider #hardridermotorcycle #hardtalknews hardrider.net

Canadians can't get access to news on Israel/Palestine

Canadians will no longer have access to news content on Facebook and Instagram. The social media giant Meta has confirmed that it will end access to news on its social media sites for all Canadian users before Bill C-18, the Online News Act, comes into force. The tech company made the announcement on Thursday, the same day the bill received royal assent. The law will force tech giants like Meta and Google to pay news outlets for posting their journalism on their platforms. Meta said it will begin to block news for Canadian users over the next few months and that the change will not be immediate. "We have repeatedly shared that in order to comply with Bill C-18 ... content from news outlets, including news publishers and broadcasters, will no longer be available to people accessing our platforms in Canada," Meta said in a media statement. Now that the bill has received royal assent, the Department of Canadian Heritage will draft regulations specifying the application of the act and provide guidance on implementing it. It should take six months for Bill C-18 to come into force. "A free and independent press is fundamental to our democracy," Canadian Heritage Minister Pablo Rodriguez said in a statement. "It levels the playing field by putting the power of big tech in check and ensuring that even our smallest news business can benefit through this regime and receive fair compensation for their work." ---- What is Bill C-18? Bill C-18, or the Online News Act, lays out a framework that would require digital giants Google and Meta to develop agreements with Canadian news sites to provide them with compensation for sharing their journalistic content that appears on their platforms This has been proposed by establishing a last-resort bargaining framework between platforms and media outlets, while incentivizing voluntary commercial agreements that can be reached independent of this Act without forcing two sides to a negotiation table. "It seeks to support balanced negotiations between the businesses that operate dominant digital news intermediaries and the businesses responsible for the news outlets that produce this news content," an explanatory note from the government says(opens in a new tab). First presented in 2022, the legislation comes amid years of major declines in news ad revenue. The bill was based on a similar policy initiative in Australia called the News Media and Digital Platforms Mandatory Bargaining Code. Australia's code enables eligible news businesses to bargain individually or collectively with digital platforms over payment for the inclusion of news on the platforms and services, according to the Australian Communications and Media Authority. The federal government says the bill was passed in order to help the Canadian news industry, which has seen falling subscriptions and ad revenue over time as those profits shift to these companies. According to an Angus Reid report released in July, 85 per cent of Canadians do not pay for any online news subscriptions and Canadians under the age of 64 usually check social media sites such as Facebook and Reddit first to get their news. Federal statistics indicate that while 69 per cent of Canadians access news online, just 11 per cent of Canadians pay for it. While an earlier Parliamentary Budget Office estimate pegged that the bill would shift around $329 million to the Canadian news industry, the most recent figure being offered by the federal government is $234 million. The overall compensation is still subject to change based on how the rules are finalized, and this is based on the assumption that the platforms come to the bargaining table. When will the Online News Act be in effect? The Online News Act is set to come into effect no later than 180 days after June 22, the day it received Royal Assent. This means the new policies within the bill are on track to be in effect as of December 2023. Work is underway now on the federal government side of the bill to create the regulatory framework that will bring Bill C-18 into effect. On Sept. 1, the Department of Canadian Heritage released the proposed regulations for implementing the Online News Act, providing what senior officials framed as the clarity platforms asked for around the implications of the new law. Unveiling the regulations has kicked off consultations with key stakeholders on how the framework should be finalized. According to the proposed regulations, platforms will fall under the Act if they meet these three criteria: They have a total global revenue of $1 billion (CAD) or more in a calendar year They operate a search engine or social media site, distributing and providing access to news content in Canada They have 20 million or more Canadian average monthly unique visitors or average monthly active users Eligible platforms have 30 calendar days to notify the CRTC upon meeting these criteria. Right now, only Meta's Facebook and Google are expected meet this threshold, but officials said they are keeping an eye on other platforms that may become eligible as they expand, naming the search engine Bing as an example. The CRTC is also working on its own consultations around the mandatory bargaining process, the code of conduct to support fairness and transparency, the rules on undue preference or discrimination, and the eligibility of news businesses through their own separate regulatory process. (opens in a new tab) Can platforms apply for an exemption? In short, yes. But that will come at a cost. Should Meta and Google decide to play ball and want to restore news access, instead of pursuing Online News Act-based compensation negotiations with news organizations, they could propose other equivalent supports to the industry. Under the current proposal, to obtain an exemption, platforms must "sufficiently" support the Canadian news marketplace. This can happen through both monetary and non-monetary contributions such as training or traffic, but the overall compensation is being estimated at needing to be equivalent to $172 million for Google and $62 million for Facebook (potentially more if Instagram is included) based on the government's proposed formula. This equation is based on the tech giant's global revenues and Canada's estimated share of their global GDP. The government is suggesting that fair agreements would be those that: are within 20 per cent of average relative journalist compensation commit to the production of news content protect journalistic independence and the editorial process include collectives of certain size representing independent local, Indigenous and official language minority community news businesses Prior agreements between platforms and news businesses can be considered. What's the latest reaction from the tech giants? Upon the release of the proposed regulations, Meta was quick out of the gate to say what's been presented will not impact their decision to end news availability. In their view, the government's draft rules are based on a "fundamentally flawed premise." "As the legislation is based on the incorrect assertion that Meta benefits unfairly from the news content shared on our platforms, today's proposed regulations will not impact our business decision to end news availability in Canada," said Rachel Curran, head of public policy for Meta Canada, on Sept. 1. Google Canada spokesperson Shay Purdy said the company is "carefully reviewing the proposed regulations to assess whether they resolve the serious structural issues with C-18 that regrettably were not dealt with during the legislative process." The search engine has previously called the bill a "link tax," saying that it "breaks the way the web and search engines have worked for more than 30 years," and may expose them to "uncapped financial liability." Where will news be blocked? Currently, content from Canadian news platforms is not visible on Facebook or Instagram for most Canadians. Meta said Aug. 1(opens in a new tab) that the company had "begun the process of ending news availability in Canada," and that the changes will be implemented for all Canadian users of its social media platforms. The news block includes links to news articles and video or audio posted by Canadian news outlets. Any links or other content will not be viewable by the public. News publishers outside of Canada will be able to continue to post, but their content will not be visible by Canadian users either. During recent wildfire emergencies, Meta's refusal to pull back on this news pullout was widely condemned by political and community leaders. According to a June 29 statement from Google, should it go ahead with removing news access, links to Canadian news will eventually be removed from its Search, News and Discover products. The company noted that users would still receive its SOS Alerts, which provide relevant safety information in the event of a crisis such as a forest fire, flood or earthquake. How are news organizations impacted? Publications that make the delivery of news their main focus are meant to be the beneficiaries of Bill C-18. Instead, "eligible news businesses" are having to find ways to go around the tech giants to distribute their journalism. The definition of what counts as a news business according to the legislation is an “individual or entity that operates a news outlet in Canada,” and a news outlet is any entity whose “primary purpose is to produce news content.” The legislation states that news businesses are considered eligible as long as they fall under certain requirements, including: producing news content of “public interest”; employing two or more journalists in Canada; operating in Canada; and following the code of ethics of a recognized journalistic association or its own code of ethics that aligns with journalistic integrity. An eligible news business also must produce news content “that is not primarily focused on a particular topic such as industry-specific news, sports, recreation, arts, lifestyle or entertainment,” according to Bill C-18, suggesting that lifestyle magazines and similar publications may not be affected by Google and Meta blocks. CTV News, CP24 and BNN Bloomberg, which are all part of Bell Media and owned by parent company BCE, will be affected by the news block. In response, Bell Media has pulled all of its advertising from Meta. How to access news amid Meta's ban Canadians are still able to access Canadian news sources by navigating directly to their websites, or mobile apps. Signing up for newsletters or subscriptions is another way to stay up to date with the latest news directly from the sources that matter most to you. Bookmarking your most frequently visited news websites now will allow you to navigate to them quickly even if their links are not being shared when you search a topic on Google. Canadians will also still be able to see news from international news sources through Google. How do different parties, stakeholders view Bill C-18? Supporters of the Liberal government's bill say that it is a way to keep tech giants in check and cut into their digital dominance.

As more than 400 Canadian newsrooms closed their doors between 2008 and 2023, supporters of a fair compensation plan say journalists should be remunerated for their work being used to help tech giants bring in more eyes and thus more ad revenue. "Canadians rely on digital platforms to access their news and information, but these tech platforms have to act responsibly and support the news sharing they and Canadians both benefit from," said Canadian Heritage Minister Pascale St-Onge in a Sept. 1 statement. "The Online News Act requires these dominant platforms to bargain fairly with news businesses—both big and small… Tech giants can and must contribute their fair share—nothing more. Canadians expect a vibrant news landscape where we can get the facts when we need them," St-Onge said. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has previously said Meta and Google’s “bullying tactics”(opens in a new tab) will not work and that his government is trying to ensure those companies do not weaken Canada’s democracy by threatening its media industry. Even before the platform pullouts began, Bill C-18 prompted debate in Parliament and beyond. Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre has criticized the legislation as an attempt by Trudeau to "control the news Canadians see." Reacting to the latest Meta move Aug. 1, the Official Opposition leader suggested "it's like 1984." "You have a prime minister passing a law to make news articles disappear from the internet. Who would ever have imagined that in Canada, the federal government would pass laws banning people from effectively seeing the news?" he said. "Whether it's big tech, or Trudeau's big government, censorship is always and everywhere, wrong." Others have voiced concern that Google and Meta blocking news links from Canadian news sources will lead to a drop in media literacy. Tech and cybersecurity expert Ritesh Kotak told CTV News Channel in late June(opens in a new tab) that the removal of news from Google and Meta's platforms could lead users to rely on unverified stories, making "deciphering fact from fiction" that much more difficult. "This is a serious problem for news organizations and also members of the public," he said, adding that news outlets should do more to promote their own platforms. #hardtalknews hardtalknews.com

Canada Shutting Down Freedom of Speech

Justin Trudeau and Chrystia Freeland are shutting down free speech. In fact if Canadians speak against the government or issues the Canadian govenment do not agree with they will not only shut down your capacity to say what you feel online...they will also shut down your bank accounts and seize your assets. Thats right, the Liberal government is not so Liberal anymore un Justin Trudeau and backed by Jagmeet Singh.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has taken the unprecedented step of invoking the Emergencies Act to crack down on anti-vaccine mandate protests. Mr Trudeau said the scope of the measures would be "time-limited", "reasonable and proportionate" and would not see the military deployed. With no need for court orders, banks can freeze personal accounts of anyone linked with the protests. Hundreds of demonstrators remain in Canada's capital city. On Sunday, law enforcement cleared anti-mandate protesters at the Ambassador Bridge in Windsor - a critical pathway for Canada-US trade - after a week-long stalemate. What began as a rally against a new rule that all truckers must be vaccinated to cross the US-Canada border, or quarantine upon return, has grown into a broader challenge to all Covid health restrictions. "This is about keeping Canadians safe, protecting people's jobs," Mr Trudeau told a news conference on Monday. He said the police would be given "more tools" to imprison or fine protesters and protect critical infrastructure. Mr Trudeau told reporters the legislation would be applied temporarily and in a highly specific manner. Critics have noted that the prime minister voiced support for farmers in India who blocked major highways to New Delhi for a year in 2021, saying at the time: "Canada will always be there to defend the right of peaceful protest." Mr Trudeau's invoking of the Emergencies Act comes as demonstrations across Canada enter their third week.

Hash vs Weed

If you’re new to the world of cannabis, you might think weed and hash are two interchangeable words used to describe the same thing. But they’re not. Below, we’ll walk you through the differences. What Is Weed? Weed refers to dried cannabis. In most parts of the world, weed is made up of cannabis flowers that have been dried and cured, and are ready to smoke, vaporize, cook, or turn into some kind of concentrate. In some regions of the world (like South America and Southeast Asia, for example), you’ll still find “brick weed”, which usually contains buds, stems, leaves, and seeds, all compressed into a hard, dark block. There are countless strains of cannabis out there, and they all produce unique effects. Since the 1980s, cannabis growers have started breeding and manipulating these strains to produce unique varieties with different aromas, flavours, and effects. Sativa varieties tend to produce a more uplifting, euphoric high, while indica varieties are thought to produce more relaxing, mellow effects. But keep in mind that the effects of a strain come down to its chemical makeup, not its genetic lineage.
Hash vs Weed What Is Hash? Hash (or hashish), on the other hand, refers to a cannabis extract made by separating the resin from buds (and/or sugar leaves). There are many different ways to make hash, but they all involve separating the trichomes and pressing them into a block, ball, cylinder, or coin. The result is a strong concentrate with unique flavour and effects. Some of the most traditional forms of hash come from Afghanistan, Morocco, and India. Afghan and Moroccan hash were traditionally made by running dried cannabis through fine sieves. The gentle friction would separate the trichomes from the dried plant material to make kief, which would then be heated and pressed to produce dark, creamy, and very potent blocks of hash. In India, on the other hand, hash was produced differently. Here, people would take live cannabis buds and roll them between their hands. The heat and friction would cause trichomes to separate from the actual plant material and create a thick, dark resin on the hands. This would then be rolled into balls and sold as charas. Other forms of hash include rosin, bubble hash, and BHO, the latter two of which are made using solvents. How Do Hash And Weed Compare? Now that you understand the difference between hash and weed, here’s an overview of how they differ in terms of preparation, flavour, effects, potency, and use. Preparation Weed is prepared by growing female cannabis plants, waiting for them to flower, keeping them from being pollinated by males, and harvesting their buds at peak ripeness. Today, most weed is grown indoors using specialised lights, ventilation systems, and nutrients to help maximise a female cannabis plant’s ability to produce resin. After about 8–12 weeks of flowering (depending on the strain), female plants are cut down, and the buds are dried for about two weeks before being placed into jars for curing. This process is vital because it helps the buds mature and maximises potency and flavour. Hash can be prepared in a multitude of ways, but they all involve separating the trichomes from cannabis buds and binding them together. The simplest and most traditional ways to make hash are those used by people in Morocco and India (which we mentioned earlier). Rosin hash, on the other hand, is made by pressing cannabis flowers using a hot press or hair straighteners to extract a rich, golden resin. Meanwhile, bubble hash uses ice water and physical agitation to separate the trichomes, and BHO uses butane. Flavour There’s a stark difference in the taste of weed and hash. Whereas weed tends to have more fresh, herbal, and sometimes fruity flavours and aromas, hash tends to be complex, rich, and spicy. Keep in mind that the flavours of hash and weed will vary depending on what strain was used to create them. The flavour of hash also varies greatly based on the way it’s produced. Hash is much more potent than weed. Most cannabis strains on the market today produce between 15–30% THC. Because hash is made by compounding a ton of trichomes together, it can reach potencies of 40, 50, or even 60%. Again, the exact potency of weed or hash will vary from one strain to the next, and will also come down to the style of hash-making utilised. Today, BHO tends to be the most potent type of hash out there, reaching over 90% THC. Use This is where weed and hash have more in common. Both can be smoked, vaporized, or used in edibles. Weed flowers, however, can also be used to make concentrates, whereas hash doesn’t work here. Quality First, Always Whether you prefer weed or hash doesn’t matter—both offer a unique and enjoyable experience. Whichever you choose, however, always make sure to source your weed or hash from quality producers using the best genetics. Or better yet, grow your own weed and make your own hash at home using our top-shelf seeds! HardTalk News

The Big Bang Theory Myth

How can the universe be infinite if it began with the big bang? This is going to come as a shock to you, but the physics community does not believe in the Big Bang and it does not believe that there was a ”singularity”.
The term Big Bang is misleading, and was in fact invented by the British astronomer Fred Hoyle to mock the idea of the universe exploding from a “singularity” (he believed in a steady state universe, which exists forever, more or less unchanged). Our best theories of the early universe say that there was a time when our visible universe was incredibly small, hot and dense. That’s it. You could extrapolate back from that and say “Well, looking at this graph of the size of the universe, it crosses the zero line at this time, therefore it must have come from nothing, or a point of zero size, which we call a singularity.”, but you would be mistaken in doing so. Lots of people have made this mistake, and the name also helps to create the commonly held misconception that there was a big explosion where previously there was nothing. I could do the same for your mass, as a foetus: I’d say “Well, looking at this graph, we can see the mass of the foetus crossing the zero line at this time here - therefore, the foetus came from a singularity!”. But, you didn’t come from nothing. There was a single fertilized cell, which we know about, and then before that, something happened, but we don’t know exactly what. (And we don’t really want to know, thanks, that’s between your mom and dad). The current leading theory states that the universe expanded incredibly rapidly in a very very short space of time, due to a process called cosmic inflation. This theory made some predictions which have since been borne out, eg by some features of the cosmic background radiation, and so it’s a strong, widely accepted theory. That begs the question “Well, what inflated?”, and that is a good question. We’re not quite sure. But, it seems that there was something there before, that dumped a great deal of energy (for some reason), and that triggered a short runaway expansion of a small part of space into the much much larger part of space which made up the very early universe. Then, the inflation chain reaction stopped, and the universe continued to expand just due to the fact that it was incredibly hot and dense, and that’s what hot and dense things do if they’re not contained. Personally, i think we could cure a lot of public misunderstanding if we ditched the phrase “The Big Bang” and replaced it with “The Big Stretch”. Regarding infinity - you're right: if it is infinite now it must have been infinite then too: you can't transition from finite to infinite. All we know about is our finite part of the entire Universe (as opposed to the visible Universe that we can see out to the cosmic background radiation). We don't know if the larger Universe is infinite. It might be - this is actually one of the debated subjects of cosmology.

Fat Tire Kits from HardTalk News

Fat Tires for Motorcycles, Pros & Cons

Motorcycle fat tire kits have gained popularity among riders seeking to customize their bikes for a unique appearance and improved performance. These kits involve replacing the stock narrow tires with wider ones, giving the motorcycle a distinct look and altering its handling characteristics.

One of the primary reasons riders opt for fat tire kits, is the visual impact. Wider tires can give your motorcycle a bold and aggressive appearance, making it stand out from the crowd.

While some riders enjoy the unique handling, others find that fat tire kits can negatively impact the bike's maneuverability. The wider tires can lead to slower and less responsive steering, making tight turns more challenging. Wider tires are typically heavier than their narrower counterparts. This additional weight can affect acceleration, braking, and overall performance. Fat tire kits can be expensive.

If you go for a two-forty rear wheel, then all you will need is a simple extended sprocket that is slightly wider than the original. However when you go wider, you will need a Jack Drive or Out Side Drive setup. The jack drive requires 2 chains and a special swingarm, while the OSD Kit has a double bearing sprocket drive that attaches to the side of your bike where the forward sprocket drive is located. Swingarms, extended or single sided, can be pricey, costing many thousands of dollars.

Wider Wheel Pros Cons | Motorcycles

Fat Tires for Motorcycles | Pros & Cons Motorcycle fat tire kits have gained popularity among riders seeking to customize their bikes for a unique appearance and improved performance. These kits involve replacing the stock narrow tires with wider ones, giving the motorcycle a distinct look and altering its handling characteristics. Like any modification, fat tire kits come with both pros and cons that riders should consider before making a decision.
Pros: Aesthetic Appeal: One of the primary reasons riders opt for fat tire kits is the visual impact. Wider tires can give your motorcycle a bold and aggressive appearance, making it stand out from the crowd. Enhanced Stability: Wider tires provide a larger contact patch with the road, potentially improving stability and grip during cornering, especially at lower speeds. Customization: Fat tire kits allow for personalization and customization, enabling riders to express their individual style through their motorcycles. This can include choosing from various tire tread patterns, rim designs, and color options. Unique Handling: While it may not be to everyone's taste, some riders enjoy the altered handling characteristics that come with wider tires. The bike may feel more planted and stable, especially in straight-line riding. Improved Traction: The increased tire width can result in better traction, especially on surfaces like gravel or sand, where wider tires can help prevent sinking. Cons: Altered Handling: While some riders enjoy the unique handling, others find that fat tire kits can negatively impact the bike's maneuverability. The wider tires can lead to slower and less responsive steering, making tight turns more challenging. Increased Weight: Wider tires are typically heavier than their narrower counterparts. This additional weight can affect acceleration, braking, and overall performance. Limited Tire Choices: The variety of tire options for fat tire kits might be more limited compared to standard tire sizes. This could restrict your choices when it comes to tire brands and tread patterns. Installation Complexity: Installing a fat tire kit is more complex than simply swapping out tires. It often involves modifications to the swingarm, rear suspension, and other components. Professional installation is recommended, which adds to the overall cost. Cost: Fat tire kits can be expensive. In addition to the cost of the kit itself, there's also the expense of professional installation, potential modifications, and any necessary adjustments to the bike's suspension, brakes, and drivetrain. Legal and Safety Concerns: Widening the tire size might lead to legal issues depending on your local regulations. Additionally, handling changes can affect the bike's stability and safety, especially if not properly adjusted or ridden without the necessary skill. Types: 240, 300, 330 Here's where the rubber hits the road. If you go 240 rear wheel then all you will need is a simple extended sprocket that is slightly wider than the original. Big advantages to going 240 because of this, plus the ride is better and more truer for a wider wheel. However when you go wider than a 240 wheel, you will need a Jack Drive or OSD (Out Side Drive) setup. The jack drive requires 2 chains and lots of ongoing adjustments, while the OSD requires a single chain but still has the double bearing sprocket drive. Regardless, going wider than a 240 greatly increases your rear end weight and decreases all ridability in curves and corners. Plus tires are expensive and so are the rims. Swingarms: Custom swingarms, extended or single sided swingarms can be pricey costing many thousands of dollars. Again, you go wide, the cost goes up and the ridability goes down, that simple. Bottom line, our recommendation is go 240 with a braced standard swingarm. Note: Unlike OSD systems, the Jack drive is almost always built in to the swingarm and quite often a single sided swingarm. In conclusion, motorcycle fat tire kits offer a unique and attention-grabbing aesthetic along with potential handling improvements for some riders. However, they also come with downsides such as altered handling characteristics, increased weight, and added costs. Before installing a fat tire kit, it's essential to thoroughly research, consider your riding preferences, and consult with professionals to ensure that the modification aligns with your motorcycle and your riding style.

Facts on Transgender Numbers in Canada

In Canada, the proportions of transgender or non-binary individuals are three to seven times higher among Generation Z (born between 1997 and 2006, 0.79%) and millennials (born between 1981 and 1996, 0.51%), than among Generation X (born between 1966 and 1980, 0.19%), baby boomers (born between 1946 and 1965, 0.15%), and those born in the pre-World War II and Silent Generation era (born in 1945 or earlier, 0.12%). An increase in gender transition may also lead to an increase in detransition. Recent studies, cited in a Real Clear Science article, suggest detransition rates ranging from approximately 2% to 10%, surpassing the previously reported 1%. Questions have arisen regarding whether the teaching of gender ideology in schools contributes to this phenomenon. When queried about the importance of discussing this topic in classrooms, the majority expressed support.

Turbo 800 Twin from Suzuki?

From Cycle World

People throughout Suzuki must be breathing some huge sighs of relief as reviews roll in on the GSX-8S and V-Strom 800DE because those models are just the vanguard to a whole array of future bikes that will be developed around the same parallel-twin engine. Among them we can expect to see at least one full-faired sport model—probably bearing the GSX-R name.
This past spring, we threw a leg over Suzuki’s new GSX-8S.Julien LaCroix/Suzuki Arguably, the GSX-8S and V-Strom are the first completely new midsize Suzukis in nearly a quarter of a century. Sure, there have been substantial developments to other models, but the last time we saw a completely new engine and chassis combination in the middleweight class from the brand was the introduction of the SV650 back in 1999. That 649cc V-twin served Suzuki well, and still does today, appearing in multiple generations of SV, including naked and faired variants, as well as the V-Strom and the largely forgotten SFV650 Gladius. The engine that powers the GSX-8S and V-Strom 800DE will power an upcoming sportbike.Suzuki With the new 776cc parallel twin, Suzuki has its eye on an even broader array of models, and there are growing rumors that the next will be a faired sport version, either called GSX-8F or GSX-8R. That makes plenty of sense as the whole parallel-twin project that led to the GSX-8S and V-Strom 800 was first introduced to the public as the turbocharged Recursion concept bike back in 2013. Back then it was a 588cc SOHC twin with an exhaust-driven blower to boost power to 100 hp, but within two years it had evolved into the DOHC “XE7″ engine—still boasting a turbo—that was unveiled at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show. The 776cc twin in the GSX-8S and V-Strom is all but identical to that prototype motor, albeit shorn of the turbocharger.
Patent drawings of Suzuki’s turbocharged twin features an exhaust that incorporates the turbo and catalytic converter into a single unit. Over the years since then we’ve seen a huge number of patent applications from Suzuki related to the project, revealing that the turbo engine project remained under development for several more years—and may still be alive today—and that the twin is destined for a wide range of models. Interesting designs to show up in those patents include an innovative exhaust that combined the turbocharger and first-stage catalytic converter into a single unit, mounted as close as possible to the exhaust ports to fire up the catalyst fast and to minimize turbo lag—always the bane of the few boosted bikes to have reached production. The fact that the normally aspirated version of the twin in the GSX-8S and V-Strom prioritizes midrange punch over top-end power could be a hint that turbocharging is still on the agenda for the future. Another patent image shows the proposed turbo engine in the Recursion concept bike.Suzuki The same patents have also shown a variety of sportbike chassis designs around the parallel-twin engine. The original Recursion used a cast-alloy frame but every document since has pointed toward the adoption of a tubular-steel design. The earlier versions showed a version with two main tubes on each side forming an “X” shape, a little like the chassis of KTM’s current 1290 Super Duke. Later patents showed a design with a more conventional steel trellis front section bolted to a cast-alloy-rear part around the swingarm pivot, a little like the chassis design used on current MV Agusta models. A running theme through all these designs was a single-sided swingarm, carried over from the original Recursion concept, and Suzuki’s draftsmen often gave the bikes a Recursion-like outline when any bodywork was included in the patent images. While a turbo twin would be an interesting halo model for Suzuki, and potentially an easy way to create a bike with 1,000cc four-cylinder performance from a sub-800cc twin, it’s likely that the first sportbike model built around the GSX-8S engine will be essentially a faired version of the GSX-8S, borrowing its chassis as well as the engine and creating an instant rival to bikes like Yamaha’s R7 and Honda’s CBR650R. Honda is also believed to be developing a CBR750R around the engine from the new Hornet and Transalp. For Suzuki, this non-turbo model—perhaps to be called GSX-8F rather than adopting the GSX-R branding—is likely to be a more important mainstream offering than any future turbocharged derivative, offering the appeal of the GSX-8S but with the bonus of a fairing to make longer-distance rides less of a chore.

Harley-Davidson announced its 2023 Q2 financial results

On July 27, 2023, Harley-Davidson announced its 2023 Q2 financial results, with information including both motorcycle shipments and revenue generated worldwide. Since the company spun LiveWire off into its own business entity in 2022, it reports those results (under which the StaCyc electric balance bikes are also grouped) separately from its Harley-branded motorcycle shipments, sales, and revenue.
How did the Motor Company’s various arms do for Q2 of 2023? Revenue across all sectors was down two percent year-on-year as compared to the same period in 2022. Since this is RideApart and not BusinessApart, though, let’s dive into motorcycle shipment and sales numbers. As a reminder, Harley records motorcycle shipments separately from motorcycle sales—at least, for Harley-branded bikes. It appears to make no such distinction (yet) for LiveWire. In any case, the MoCo reported worldwide motorcycle shipments of 42,900 bikes in Q2 of 2023. That represents a decrease of 10 percent over the 47,900 shipped in the same period in 2022. Harley attributes this decrease to that unplanned production stoppage that occurred in May 2023. Getting into actual motorcycle sales for Q2 of 2022, though, the picture is a little more optimistic. In the regions of North America, Asia Pacific, and Latin America, sales rose. Only in the combined area of Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (collectively referred to as EMEA) did sales drop by six percent. While most growth regions saw single-digit percentages of growth, Asia Pacific rose by an impressive 24 percent year-on-year, jumping to 7,500 bikes sold in Q2 of 2023 as compared to the 6,000 sold in Q2 of 2022. In total, global motorcycle sales (excluding LiveWire) rose by three percent for Q2 of 2023. So far, the LiveWire unit reports motorcycle shipments only, not motorcycle sales. For Q2 of 2023, LiveWire reported shipments of 33 entire bikes. Not 3,300, or 330. Thirty-three. That represents an 85 percent drop over Q2 of 2022, when 225 units were shipped. Incidentally, all 33 of the LiveWires that shipped in Q2 of 2022 were LiveWire Ones, not Harley-Davidson LiveWires or S2 Del Mars. Unsurprisingly given the year’s results so far, LiveWire is revising its sales guidance for the entirety of the 2023 fiscal year and is now aiming for “motorcycle unit sales of 600 to 1,000.” Will it meet or exceed those goals? As the company expands in Europe and as the more affordable S2 Del Mars begin rolling out to customers, only time will tell.
